Focus and Scope

The “Studies in Comparative Education” is an international, peer-reviewed journal for enhancing academic quality in comparative and international education research. It seeks to promote scholarly discussion on the following issues:

- history and methodology of comparative educational research;

- educational theory and practice;

- educational systems and institutions;

- teacher training and professional development;

- educational reforms and innovations worldwide;

- language learning.

Peer Review Process

  1. The journal uses "double blind" peer review policy. The reviewers in the corresponding field blindly review each manuscript, and then it may be accepted for publishing, rejected or given back to the author for correcting. The reasons for rejecting may be: a negative review, disparity between the article and the scope of the journal, lack of novelty or originality etc. 
  2. If the manuscript does not correspond to the scope of the journal or does not meet the requirements for authors, it may be rejected at the previous stage.

 

Publication Frequency

The Journal is published two times a year (June and December)

 

Publication fee

The Journal charges €50 (or $50) of article processing fee to cover the costs induced by editing, efficient publication service to the authors, proofreading, typesetting, etc. 

The journal supports a waiver policy.

Hardcopies of the Journal as well as airmailing costs are paid additionally.

No article submission charge is required.

 

Open Access Statement

The journal publishes fully open access journals, which means that all articles are available on the internet to all users immediately upon publication.  Full-text access to scientific articles of the journal is presented on the official website in the Archives section.

The journal «Studies in Comparative Education» is an open access journal, which means all its content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author as long as they cite the source.The journal is licensed by  CC Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International

 

Plagiarism policy

In the Journal plagiarism policy, we address plagiarism as ‘an act or instance of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author's work as one's own, as by not crediting the original author; a piece of writing or other work reflecting such unauthorized use or imitation(Plagiarism. All the submitted articles are subjected to plagiarism detection. If plagiarism is detected the article is turned down. If plagiarism is detected after publication, the editor will contact the author's institute and / or funding agencies. Depending on the extent of the plagiarism, the paper may also be formally retracted.  

 

Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system for distributed archival storage of published content in numerous libraries and information centers. Libraries participating in the LOCKSS project ensure long-term storage of the complete archives of the journal and automatic recovery of corrupted data.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.


 

Publication ethics

Editoria board of “Studies in Comparative Education” journal adheres to international standards of editorial ethics and exerts every effort to prevent its violation. The main provisions of Publication Ethics of the journal are based on international standards, proposed by the Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE (publicationethics.org).

Authors’ responsibilities

Originality and plagiarism. The authors ensure that they submit original work, and if they use the ideas of other authors, they are properly presented them as citations. Plagiarism in all its forms promotes unethical behavior and is unacceptable.

Publication in several sources. The author does not have to publish articles that have been published before. Submitting of the same article to other journals is unethical and unacceptable behavior.

Authorship of the article. The authorship of the article should be limited to those who have made the most significant contribution to the conception, development, implementation and interpretation of the study, which is published. These people are specified as co-authors. The responsible author must provide access to the final version of the article and the possibility of reconciliation before publication.

Conflict of interests. All authors should note in the manuscript any financial or other potential conflicts of interests that can be misinterpreted. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Mistakes in the published works. If the author finds serious mistakes or inaccuracy in his own publication, he shall immediately inform the editor and/or publisher of the journal and correct this mistake in the article. If the editor or publisher gets to know about these mistakes from third part, the duty of editor/publisher is to notify the author about this fact, and the duty of author is to correct it, or provide proof of the correctness of the original article.

 

Editor’s responsibilities

The decision to publish. Editor of the journal is responsible for deciding which of the articles sent to the editor should be published. Correct presentation and scientific importance of articles should be the main criteria. The editor can be guided by the policies adopted by the editorial board of behavior and legal documents relating to defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may consult with reviewers for a decision.

Privacy. Editor and editorial board do not have the right to disclose information about the presented manuscript to anyone except the corresponding author, reviewers and publisher.

Conflict of interests. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editor’s research without the written consent of the author. Important information or ideas obtained during editing must be kept in a secret and can not be used for personal benefit.

 

Reviewers’ responsibilities

Contribution into the editorial decisions. Peer review helps the editor in making editorial decisions. It also can help the author in improving the quality of the submitted material. Peer review is an essential component of scientific communication and is the basis of the scientific method.

Efficiency. The reviewer who is unable to consider publishing on time, has to inform the editor and refuse from the reviewing.

Privacy. Any submitted manuscript should be perceived as confidential document. Demonstration or discussion with third parties is possible only with the permission of the editor.

Conflict of interests. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the reviewers studies without the written consent of the author.
